Granada Holmes Afghan

Over the summer, I got it into my head to make the blanket Jeremy Brett totes around through the Granada 'verse of Sherlock Holmes. After a few days of staring at screen caps and going mad, I realised that the reason no pattern of this thing exists is because he never had the same blanket twice. Just a whole bunch of very similar-looking blankets.

So, I stared at more screen caps and after very nearly losing my mind, came up with close approximation patterns for all three blankets.

Feel free to use and link around to your heart's content.

Cool look. I never even thought about doing a Holmes afghan, but it's a great idea, thanks.

i like to read fanfic and to crochet. good idea to combine them.
Yesterday i watched ic movie and there was a crocheted had that i liked.
But i saw it only for a couple of seconds, so no chance to study the pattern.
Nowadays you can find anything on the internet. So do any one of you know a
website where you can find things like crochet in tv shows or movies?

If you can get hold of some screen caps, I can take a look and see what all you need to do for the hat. Otherwise, you may want to check like, Ravelry or somewhere. That, or fandom communities for the movie.

That is very weird that they didn't ever use the same blanket twice. I mean, why wouldn't they?! Hmm. I like your version, even though I can't picture the original. Nicely done!

Yeah, Granada were really bad at that. It's maddening when you're trying to make their awesome blankets and scarves.

:D

Yeah, the first step to working it out was realising that the good folks at Granada are inconsistent with their props. Holmes has a wonderful scarf that changes colour and length every time you see it as well, going from black to various shades of grey and charcoal.

Those ones are all pretty simple, though. If you know how to knit, pick the colour that you want, cast on 40-60 stitches, and just do a garter stitch forever and ever and ever until that thing goes down to your knees. x_x

is this pattern still available, because I have been stuck in a hotel room watching dvds of Jeremy brett and I just finished The Devil's Foot where I noticed that he had this blanket that I'd seen in other episodes and was trying to figure out how to make one for myself. it would really help my boredom :)

It's no longer on AO3, but it is here: http://oxfordtweed.dreamwidth.org/295981.html

The dark version from the Dying Detective is the three-colour, but with black (in place of the grey), the brown in place of the tan, and then a darker coffee or chocolate in place of the brown.
